During his nth summers recently, National Artist for Literature nominee Epitacio Tongohan, also known as Doc PenPen (he’s a real medical doctor) and Bugtong Takipsilim or B. Takipsilim, said that the Philippines is the center of creativity among poets and other literary figures.
“Nag-uumapaw ang mga makata sa ating bayan (Our country as a lot of poets),” Tongohan exclaimed at the top of his voice like reciting poetry during his natal day celebration at Lanai Annabel’s at the hilly and luscious Sampalok, Tanya, Rizal.
“Kaya umaapila ako kay President Bongbong Marcos na gawing Heart of World Poetry ang Pilipinas (That’s why I am appealing to PBBM to make the Philippines the Heart of World Poetry),” he said with conviction.
“He can do that through his Executive Orders. I am sure he likes to proclaim the Philippines as the Heart of World Poetry not only because the Philippines, according to master musician and artist Felipe M. de Leon is in the heart of the world but precisely because PBBM is a poetry lover,” explained Doc PenPen who is continuously campaigning for his advocacy of making the Philippines the Heart of World Poetry.
