Even ii he is one of the five finalists to the prestigious and internationally renowned singing competition, “The Voice USA,” Filipino singer Sofronio Vasquez feels he is already a winner.
And he is.
As a matter of fact, he is being heralded not only by Filipinos all over the world as an ultimate winner in the contest which held its Final Round recently.
The Philippine pride sang “A Million Dreams” from “The Greatest Showman” and “Unstoppable,” both songs made the audience mesmerized by his voice/
Michael Buble coached Vasquez in the competition which was a once-in-a-lifetime chance for him.
“Michael, it’s so weird to call you Michael. I call you Sir. Your mentorship is a blessing to me, to my family, and to all the dreamers out there. You open the doors for everyone. Thank you so much,” said Sofronio before the final stage of the contest.
“Well, my Filipino brother, you are the hope of so many people. Not just in the Philippines, but Asians everywhere truly are looking at you tonight. So proud.
“You represent them so well and it’s such an unbelievable journey to be here with you,” beamed Buble.
According to the superstar, Vasquez will not only represent the Philippines but the whole Asian region as well in the widest music empire in the world.
Sofronio has joined “It’s Showtime”’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan” but he just reached the semifinals.
Vasquez who went to the US to try his luck in the American music industry has been praised by a Fil-Am Ramon Capanzana of Texas, USA. “Cheers…for the First Filipino Grand Champion of ‘The Voice USA’ Sofronio Vasquez…there’s always a place for a good man,” said Ramon.
During his victory, Vasquez’s mom in the Philippines was proud of her son. “Ipinagmamalaki kita, Anak (I am proud of you, Son,” exclaimed his mother.
The other finalists in the highly competitive singing contest, aside from Vasquez, were Danny Joseph, Jeremy Beloate, Sydney Sterlace and Shye. (Boy Villasanta)
