The Philippine government is eager to boost its alliance with the United States under President-elect Donald Trump, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo announced last week.
Manalo expressed his enthusiasm to collaborate with Trump’s incoming administration, emphasizing the Philippines’ commitment to bolstering its longstanding partnership with the U.S.
“The Philippines reaffirms its commitment to continue working with the United States to advance Philippines-US relations. I look forward to working with our counterparts in bringing our alliance to even greater heights under the administration of President-elect Donald Trump,” he stated.
In addition, Manalo extended his congratulations to the U.S. for its successful presidential election held on November 5, noting that the event underscored “the robustness of American democratic values and institutions.”
Trump, who was elected the 47th president of the United States, achieved a historical feat by becoming the second U.S. leader to serve two non-consecutive terms.
He defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, securing the required 270 electoral votes and leading the race with a current tally of 295 to Harris’s 226, as reported by the Associated Press.
