People visiting Tondol Beach in Anda, Pangasinan, will be surprised not only by the fine white-sand beach, but also by the paved road leading to the tourism destination, after Public Works and Highways (DPWH)–Pangasinan 1st District Engineer Smile D. Fermin reported the completion of the P43-million concrete paving of the Poblacion-San Jose-Namagbagan-Imbo-Tondol Road.
Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said the road project, funded by the Department of Tourism under a convergence program, will make travel to Tondol Beach convenient for people in Luzon who don’t want to travel far to enjoy a white-sand beach.
The white sand, sky-reflecting crystal waters, calm waves and sand bars of Tondol Beach, often called by the locals as the “Boracay of North,” is considered an enjoyable place for families to build sand castles.
According to the DPWH official, the improvement of the concrete access road involved replacement works for the deteriorated concrete pavement and the construction of a stone masonry slope-protection structure along the road.
To further increase the tourism potential of Agno, the DPWH is also building an access road leading to Umbrella Rocks and Abagatanen Beach.
Abagatanen Beach and the colossal Umbrella Rocks, and Sabangan Beach are regarded as gems of Agno.
The initial improvement of the Poblacion-Sabangan Road was already completed by the Pangasinan 1st District Engineering Office to the tune of P46.6 million.
