Romantic balladeer Aristeo Demavivas keeps quality music alive!

After a month-or-so-stay at the Gateway Hotel and Suites in Iloilo, one is tempted to say that its General Manager’s quest for quality in music as an artistic pursuit however on the pop culture level.

After having jazz couple Jeannie Tiongco and Henry Katindig waxing out soothing and mesmerizing soulful tunes and Amazing Diva Armida Zuniega belting out goldies anthems both old and new, romantic balladeer Aristeo Denavivas (of “So Lucky in my Life” fame and the man behind the Kodak promo ad “Good morning yesterday,” an adaptation from Paul Anka’s “The Times of your Life”), is ready for other entertainment challenges in his hotel management.

And his vision of regrowing regional music in Gateway’s Bridges Bistro and other parts of Iloilo is part of a grand plan.

“It’s part of taking risks,” he quips.

He has just imported Filipino musicians, male and female, from Hong Kong to sing in his bar.

At the moment, Aris is simply gaga over his new discoveries—Tiongco, Katindig, Zuniega and HK Pinoy music makers. (Boy Villasanta)
