Spectators barred from non-contact sports in GCQ, MGCQ areas

Malacanang announced that spectators will be barred from venues of non-contact sports and exercises in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said, “Members of the IATF prohibited spectators in all outdoor non-contact sports and exercises in areas under general community quarantine and indoor and outdoor sports and exercises in areas under modified general community quarantine.”

Under the IATF’s omnibus guidelines, outdoor non-contact sports and other forms of exercise such as walking, jogging, running, biking, golf, swimming, tennis, badminton, equestrian, range shooting, and skateboarding will be allowed in GCQ areas.

In MGCQ areas, both indoor and outdoor non-contact sports are allowed.

Earlier, the IATF allowed the resumption of training sessions for basketball and football.
