To advocate modernization and industry partnership, the Union Bank of the Philippines teamed up with the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) to equip young Filipino innovators with a progressive skillset on cutting-edge technology required to succeed in this digital age.
Under the UBPXcellerator Program, UnionBank launched the Innovation Garage Project in accordance with its Tech Up Pilipinas campaign of empowering local students through education and digital transformation.
According to the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by UnionBank President and CEO Edwin Bautista, Benilde President Br. Edmundo Fernandez FSC, and Vice Chancellor for Academics Angelo Marco Lacson, the partnership intends to facilitate seminars, trainings, and recruitment activities that will be valuable in cultivating technological talent.
Back in 2018, these institutions initially worked together on the UBPXcellerator Program covering data science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy. It was inspired by the bank’s participation in the Singapore Fintech Festival.
Students are set to be immersed in mentorship programs with seasoned industry experts, plus career placements brought about by the alliance. This will likewise give an opportunity for them to establish a professional job with UnionBank in the future.
Housed at The Atrium @ Benilde, the college and specialists from the corporation’s learning and development team will handle classes in the new space.
This new initiative fosters internships, relevant research projects, and educational tours. Faculty development and community involvement activities are also part of its collaborative goal of making the country a global tech hub.
