National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) OIC Executive Director Marichu Tellano and National Youth Commission (NYC) Chairman Aiza Y. Seguerra recently signed a memorandum of agreement to strengthen the partnership between the sectors they represent.
“The NCCA had been wanting to work with the [NYC] for the development and promotion of culture and the arts [in] the youth sector,” Tellano said.
“We are really looking forward to reach out to more young people, especially [on] the grassroots [level], which…aligns with the advocacy and the direction of the NYC under the leadership of Underscretary Seguerra,” she added.
For his part, Seguerra expressed excitement in joining the culture and arts sector. He said the partnership his agency made with the NCCA presented an opportunity to show young people that arts and culture are something that can be enjoyed not just by the privileged, but by all Filipinos.
“We know that arts and culture [are] for the soul, and excited ako sa mga pwede nating gawin, sa mga pwede nating mai-impart sa mga kabataan natin [I’m excited about the things we could do, about the things we could impart to our young people],” Seguerra said.
“I’m happy that now, because of this partnership, magkakaroon ng mas malalim na kaalaman ang mga kabataan [young people will have a deeper knowledge of our culture and the arts], and they will get to enjoy the differences that we have and embrace our diversity,” he added.
