Mitsubishi great at 60

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) celebrated its 60th year as one of the leading automotive company in the Philippines with a grand expo last week at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Top Mitsubishi officials from the Philippines and Japan welcomed various political and business personalities and other VIPs during the opening ceremonies at the said venue.

A plethora of old and iconic Mitsubishi cars up to the present ones, and even those that are yet to be introduced to the local market, were presented inside the cavernous center and was opened to the general public for viewing.

MMPC president and CEO Takeshi Hara led the various Mitsubishi officials in welcoming the guests that included Sta. Rosa, Laguna city mayor Arlene Arcillas, Department of Trade and Industry undersecretary Rafaelita Aldaba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Philippines Kazuhiko Koshikawa, and several former government officials from the former administration.

“Together with senior executive officer M. Kitao and corporate officer Kinoshita from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in Japan, we greet you a delightful and heartfelt welcome to the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines 60th anniversary expo to commemorate not just a remarkable milestone but also a journey of dedication and service to the Filipino people. For 60 years, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has been more than a company selling vehicles; we have become an integral part of the Filipino society, contributing to its progress and shaping its economy and culture through our products and unwavering core values,” according to Hara.

Hara added that Mitsubishi is also happy about the two other significant milestones apart from MMPC’s 60th anniversary — reaching the incredible local production of 800,000 vehicles, a milestone that speaks volumes about our continuous commitment to excellence and innovation, and secondly, achieving an awe-inspiring 1.2 million accumulated sales.

“As we celebrate these milestones, we recognize that our success would not have been possible without the support and patronage of the Filipino community. Over the decades, MMPC has been a beacon of employment, providing opportunities to many Filipinos and their families, thereby contributing to the nation’s economic growth and prosperity,” Hara said.

In 1963, the Mitsubishi Motors brand was introduced to the Philippines, propelled by a vision to provide cutting-edge mobility solutions that empower lives and businesses. It has grown hand in hand with the nation, establishing a strong bond that is deeply rooted in trust and reliability.

Looking ahead, Hara said that their future aspirations are driven by a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation. “We are excited to present to you the XRT and XFC concept cars, which will represent the face of our new Mitsubishi models. These cutting-edge concepts symbolize our pursuit of environmental consciousness and advanced technology, propelling us towards a future of cleaner, greener, and smarter mobility solutions for the Philippines. By now, you must have already seen the latest addition to Mitsubishi Motors’ line-up – the new pick-up truck that makes your life better with wonderful experience. And I am very much delighted to announce that MMPC will be bringing in this tough player very soon to the Philippine market and it will be called the Mitsubishi Triton.”
