The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has launched a special commemorative stamp celebrating the election of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV — the 268th leader of the Roman Catholic Church — who shares a heartfelt connection with the Philippines.
Pope Leo XIV, known in secular life as Robert Francis Prevost, once served as a missionary in Cebu and other parts of the country, leaving a lasting impression on many Filipino Catholics. His deep ties to the nation make the new stamp not just a philatelic gem, but a spiritual memento for millions of faithful Filipinos.
In a statement last week, PHLPost said the stamp pays tribute to the Pope’s advocacy for compassion, unity, and inclusivity — values that echo strongly within the nation’s predominantly Catholic population.
“Through this commemorative issue, we reaffirm our mission to preserve culture, history, and faith through philately,” PHLPost said.
The stamp design features a dignified portrait of Pope Leo XIV, accompanied by meaningful symbols of his papacy.
Only 20,000 copies of the stamp have been printed, each priced at P17, making it a limited-edition keepsake for collectors and devotees alike. A matching First Day Cover is also available.
Papal stamps have long been prized for their beauty, symbolism, and historical relevance — often becoming sought-after items among global collectors.
Those interested in owning a piece of this historic release may visit the Postshop at the Manila Central Post Office Compound, Annex I Building, Liwasang Bonifacio.
PHLPost encourages the public to get their copies early and take part in honoring a new pontiff whose journey is deeply intertwined with the Philippine Catholic experience.
