So what if Jinggoy Estrada is gay?

It’s already out.

No, not Jinggoy Estrada yet.

It’s actor Robby Tarroza who has let the cat out of the bag.

It’s Robby who spilled the beans that Jinggoy is gay.

In his Facebook wall, Tarroza posted an acerbic expose.

“Jinggoy mag resign ka na (resign) kundi (otherwise) i will be forced to tell the country about your double life!!! You are one of the reasons bat kami naghiwalay (why we parted ways). i have ALL the receipts dear. Try me! pareho lang kayo ng EX ko (you and my EX are the same…, BABOY (PIG!),” digitally shouted out Robby, a former contract artist of Seiko Films.

Although most of Tarroza’s accusations against Jinggoy were categorically vague like his depiction of Estrada’s “double life,” would it mean what?

Is Jinggoy appearing in a perilous action scene in a movie with a double performing a death-defying stunt?

Or Jinggoy is a doppelganger?

Libelous?

If this controversy is blown out of proportions, what action would the actor-politician take?

Libel case?

Cyberlibel court battle?

Is Robby ready to face up with the accused?

It is clear, however, according to Robby, that he has the receipts or the pieces of evidence to support his claim.

According to Tarroza, Jinggoy was the cause of his break-up with his boyfriend, actor Joed Serrano.

It was during the presidential election in 2005, he said, that the liaison between Joed and Estrada occurred.

Joed was involved with the campaign for the presidential bid of Fernando Poe, Jr. during that time and it was in this season, added Robby, that Jinggoy and his former beau got “romantically” involved.

Would Tarroza stand on his ground if he is taken seriously in court by his opponent?

At the rate things are going, Estrada is focused on the flood control projects hearings where he is implicated in the multimillion cases of kickbacks being hurled on him by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) hierarchy led by a certain Brice Hernandez.

Nothing has been heard from the senator about the Robby Tarroza brouhaha.

Meanwhile, it was Cristy Fermin who has been defending Estrada versus the shocking revelation of Robby.

According to Cristy, she knows the Estradas too and all Tarroza’s tirades against Jinggoy are false.

Kilalang-kilala ko ang mga Estrada. Walang katotohanan ang mga bintang laban kay (I know the Estradas too well. The accusations are false against) Senator Jinggoy,” Fermin defended in her vlog.

Binaboy niya ang organisasyon ng (He defamed the) LGBTQIA+,” she added referring to Robby’s dragging in the gayness of Jinggoy.

Wala siyang kredibilidad (He has no credibility),” she quipped.

Fermin called out Tarroza to be more relevant.

Dapat, ang pinapakialaman niya ay ang katiwalian sa gobyerno,” she interjected.

Cristy even dared Robby to come from the US to a fair play.

Sana, umuwi siya rito sa Pilipinas at huwag siyang magtago sa ibang bansa (I hope he comes home to the Philippines and not hide abroad),” Fermin firmly said.

Meanwhile, there are mixed reactions on this issue. Some netizens poke fun about Jinggoy and still, there are those who say that the focus of the story should be the corruption cases and not on this gay issue as if the two are separable.

The problem still lies in the conservative and prude spirit, for one, and attitude, on the other hand, of society.

While gayhood (or its accompanying rights like same-sex marriage) is generally accepted and lawful in advanced countries, LGBTQIA+ in the Philippines is still in the process of sitting well with the rest of the hetero population.

So, what if Estrada is gay?

As long as he performs his duties and responsibilities well as a public servant and as an actor, it’s okay but he is also on the hot seat about alleged corruption which still has to be proven in court.

As filmmaker Armando Reyes posted on his Facebook wall: “OKAY LANG NA GAY…WAG LANG KORAP.”
