Joel Lamangan’s movie on reshaping rural backwardness win Best Film at 2025 Sinag Maynila Film Festival

It takes a school teacher to redirect the path a remote barrio has embarked to attain progress in many levels of its rural life.

This is the defining moment of the film “Madawag ang Landas Patungong Pag-asa” that won the Best Film plum at the awards night of the 7th Sinag Maynila Film Festival held at Gateway Cinema 11 in Cubao. Quezon City recently.

Director Joel Lamangan received the trophy for his work.

Halika kayo lahat ng involved sa (Come on here all of you who were involved in the) project,” Joel requested all creatives and admin personnel like supervising producer Dennis Evangelista responsible for  making the project.

Lamangan, in his acceptance speech thanked Sinag Maynila for its advocacy to create an important and significant platform to show and promote Philippine cinema.

He hoped and prayed that Sinag Maynila continues to serve the local movie industry through showing of local films.

Meanwhile, Topel Lee bagged the Best Director for the film “Jeongbu.”

Eric Ramos got the Signal Maynila nod for Best Screenplay for “Madawag ang Landas Patungong Pag-asa.”

No Best Supporting Actor and Actress winners were proclaimed.

JM de Guzman clinched the Best Actor trophy while Rita Daniela snagged the Best Actress plum for “Selda Tres” and “Madawag ang Landas Patungong Pag-asa,” respectively.

The Audience Choice Award, the 2025 Sinag Maynila entry “Selda Tres” which grossed the most numbers of ticket sales.

“Madawag ang Landas Patungong Pag-Asa” also won in the technical department—Best Music by Von de Guzman and Best Production Design by Jay Custodio.

“Jeongbu” took home the Best Sound by Fatima Nerikka Salim and Immanuel Verona, Best Cinematography by AB Andres and Best Editing by Crishel Desuasido who has just passed on.
