Remulla orders courtesy resignations in Ombudsman shake-up

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has ordered over 80 senior officials of the Office of the Ombudsman to submit their courtesy resignations as part of a sweeping reorganization aimed at addressing alleged “midnight appointments” made under his predecessor, Samuel Martires.

Under Office Order 347, officials holding Salary Grades 25 to 29—including assistant ombudsmen, directors, and senior graft investigators—were given seven days to comply, while those with lower ranks were encouraged to do the same “to show good faith.”

Remulla also ordered a review of 204 recent hires, whose appointments were made between May 29 and July 27, the final months of Martires’ term. Among those named in the directive are Assistant Ombudsmen Nellie Golez and Maria Olivia Elena Roxas.
“All officials shall continue to perform their duties until action on the resignations is taken,” the order stated. TRACY CABRERA
