The Philippine government has called for restraint and a de-escalation of the situation in Venezuela following the January 3, 2026 U.S. military incursion of Caracas that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, who were airlifted to the United States to face narcotics and terrorism charges.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: “The Philippines urges concerned parties to resolve disputes through peaceful means, and to exercise restraint to prevent escalation of conflict.”
The Philippine Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia, — which serves as the non-resident mission for Venezuela — advised Filipinos in Venezuela to stay vigilant and prepared, avoid risky situations and identify safe spaces for refuge.
It also called on citizens to monitor credible news sources, stay connected with fellow Filipinos through community channels and update their contact details with the embassy for easy communication.
According to official records, 74 Filipinos are registered with the embassy.
