It’s first time that prizewinning filmmaker Raymond Red (“Anino,” “Bayani ” “Sakay,” “Mga Rebeldeng May Kaso,” “Himpapawid,” “Manila’s Finest,” among others) and award-winning actor Piolo Pascual were together in a film.
The project was “Manila’s Finest,” a Cignal and MQuest Ventures with Spring Films as joint production that was an official entry to the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival.
To think that Spring Films is partly owned by Piolo but he was, according to Raymond, a very considerate and a magnanimous producer and actor.
“This is the first time in my directorial career that I didn’t personally choose my actors. They were all provided by the producers,” recalled Red.
But all the members of the cast were all cooperative and patient.
“Si Piolo, he would take it very easy. Kahit sabi ko, matatagalan ng take dahil nga mabusisi ako lalo na sa ilaw (Even if I said, the take would take a little longer because I am very meticulous about the lighting),” Raymond attested.
“Gano’n siya katiyaga (That’s how patient he is),” said the 2000 Palme d’Or Best Director for the short film “Anino.” (Boy Villasanta)
