ICTSI East Java seeks stronger trade links in Indonesia

East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT), the Lamongan operation of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), recently hosted industry representatives to explore trade opportunities between East Java and Eastern Indonesia. The dialogue specifically focused on enhancing freight development, market access, and transport connections through Lamongan.

Discussions during the meeting centered on cargo flows between production centers and consumer markets, access to domestic and international shipping routes, and the critical role of port, warehousing, and bonded facilities. EJMT Chief Executive Officer John Largo noted a growing interest in shipping routes linking East Java to Eastern Indonesia, emphasizing that such engagements help the facility understand and facilitate shifting regional demands.

Echoing this sentiment, Sebastian Wibisono, Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI/ILFA) East Java chairman, highlighted that connectivity, competitive costs, and reliable transport options remain essential for moving cargo efficiently. He welcomed the partnership with EJMT to provide additional routing options for businesses operating between East Java and the eastern part of the country.

Located within the Lamongan Shorebase complex, EJMT offers comprehensive access to port, warehousing, and bonded logistics facilities connected to nearby developments like the Jakamitra Industrial Park i-sentra project. Having begun operations in October 2024, the terminal handles containerized, bulk, project, and heavy-lift shipments, reinforcing ICTSI's ongoing efforts to support economic activity across Indonesia.
