The Commission on Higher Education (Ched) gave its seal of approval for the construction of the second University of Rizal System (URS) Antipolo Campus during the recent meeting of the URS Board of Regents at the Ched main office in Quezon City.
Ched Commissioner Alex Brillantes Jr., together with Vice Chairman and URS President Marita Canapi, headed the meeting that was attended by Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo, Sen. Pia Cayetano, National Economic and Development Authority Region 4A Officer in Charge Luis Banua, and Department of Science and Technology Region 4A Director Alexander Madrigal.
They conveyed their support for the URS-Antipolo Campus’s construction on the boundary of Inarawan and San Jose villages.
Antipolo Mayor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares started the city’s educational thrust in 2013 to provide every child in Antipolo a high caliber education that is accessible even to the poorest of the poor.
The city government’s flagship programs brought forth Antipolo City Institute of Technology (AiTECH); Antipolo Science High School; Computer Training Mobile Bus; a P100-million budget for scholarship grants every year; additional school buildings; and free school uniforms, bags and notebooks to all public-school students.
The city government also signed an agreement with the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology for the establishment of Philippine Science Centrum in San Jose.
