BOC earns P931-B last year

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) achieved P931.046 billion in revenues in 2024, marking an increase of P40 billion from the previous year’s total of P890.446 billion.

During the BOC’s 123rd-anniversary event on Friday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. highlighted this success and underscored the importance of effective revenue collection. He pointed out that these funds help fuel vital national development projects, including improvements to education and infrastructure.

“Through the proper collection of tariffs at our ports, we can ensure quicker travel for our citizens, provide necessary school supplies for our children, and help more of our youth graduate from college,” the President remarked.

The President also commended the BOC for its role in safeguarding the country’s borders, emphasizing the agency’s work in intercepting smuggled goods. He noted that the BOC confiscated more than PhP85.167 billion worth of smuggled items in 2024, nearly doubling the amount seized in 2023, which stood at PhP43.295 billion.

In his address, the President called on BOC officials and personnel to continue prioritizing public welfare, act with integrity, and foster public trust to improve tax compliance.

He also congratulated those recognized with the BOC’s Leadership Awards for their exceptional contributions to the agency and the administration’s goals. Expressing confidence in the awardees’ future success, President Marcos noted that their leadership would guide the Bureau toward even greater efficiency and transparency.

“This is the leadership that the Filipino people deserve. As we celebrate the 123rd anniversary of the BOC, I urge everyone to take part in this challenge,” President Marcos concluded.

“Let the welfare of the nation always be your priority. Perform your duties with honesty and care for your fellow Filipinos,” he added.
