Clan of mestizo, mestiza screen idols bred of new Soroptimist International in Bagong Parañaque president

After the induction of the new set of officers and members of the Soroptimist International of Bagong Parañaque (SIBP) at the Manila Elks Club in Makati City, elected President Imelda Rivero-Vibar said she has an affinity with a number of small and big screen idols, one of them newscaster and actor Bon Vibar.

“Bon is the first cousin of my late husband, Jose ‘Butch’ Vibar,” replied Imelda to my query if she has a relation with the great TV, stage and movie actor Bon Vibar.

“Bon is such a wonderful cousin,” said Rivero-Vibar who added that the screen legend Bon is a very professional media person.

She also reiterated that Bon is a close member of the family.

Without saying a word, Mel (Rivero-Vibar’s pet name) took pride in the famous and illustrious Bon.

Another Vibar in the local movie industry is character actor Bert Vibar, a mestizo thespian.

Kaya pala mga mestizo at mestiza kayo (No wonder you’re all mestizo and mestiza),” this writer commented.

Imelda broke in a hearty laughter.

Many of the officials and members of SIBP were also proud and excited that their new president is related to an award-winning actor in Filipino and English plays, in vernacular films and television shows as well.

Lourdes Stutely, better known as Lady Datin de la Cruz Stutely, better half to British social entrepreneur Richard Stutely, former Charter President of Soroptimist and now Region Public Relations Officer (PRO).

Rivero-Vibar succeeded Janette Visser.

Soroptimist International Governor Virginia “Gigie” Peñalosa along with Past President and Past Governor Tes Choa, District Director Rema Gorospe Tan Manzano and Bulacan Congresswoman Linabelle Villarica were guest speakers.
