The Association of Pinoyprintmakers (A/P), formerly known as the Printmakers Association of the Philippines (PAP), will hold an exhibition, titled Papers and Layers, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’s (CCP) Second Floor Hallway Gallery and Little Theater Lobby from Aug. 27 to Sept. 25.
For its 2016 show at the CCP, A/P goes back to basics—that is, return to works on paper. But this does not necessarily mean that these works are considered “traditional”, for printmaking continues to be vital to the changes in the visual-arts landscape.
Though the works may be rendered on paper, the final prints may be transposed as sculptural works on paper, installation art with paper, and so on. Therefore, they just do not remain on one surface, but, rather, give it layers by how they work with images as they add to and/or press them on surfaces.
Participating artists are Ambie Abano, Buen Abrigo, Jose Santos Ardivilla, Virgilio Aviado, Mars Bugaoan, Mica Cabildo, Benjie Torrado Cabrera, Kristen Cain, Salvador Ching, Joey Cobcobo, Jean Dee, Fil Delacruz, Janos Delacruz, Neil Doloricon, Noell EL Farol, Samantha Feleo, Jess Flores, Raul Isidro, Eugene Jarque, Lea Lim, Lenore RS Lim, Angelo Magno, Fara Manuel, Maja Markovic, Ged Merino, Jonathan Olazo, Renan Ortiz, Henrielle Pagkaliwangan, Rhoda Recto, Jun-Jun Sta. Ana, Suchin Teoh, Josephine Turalba, and Wesley Valenzuela.
They will interact with the public in an artists‘ talk and demonstration at the CCP MKP Hall from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 7.
CCP gallery hours are from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (or 8 p.m. on days with performances in the CCP Main Theater).
