A senator on Tuesday said that aside from sports development, the Palarong Pambansa (National Games) also serves as a venue for instilling traits that future Filipino leaders must possess.
Senator Loren Legarda made this remark, expressing support for the Palarong Pambansa, which for the first time will be held in her home province of Antique from April 23 to 29.
This year’s Palaro, which will bring together some 12,000 participants, will go by the theme, “2017 Palarong Pambansa: Converges Youth Power, Builds Sustainable Future”.
Legarda noted the importance of providing support, motivation and exposure to the Filipino youth to enable them to become effective contributors to nation-building.
“The youth has a vital role to play in the development of our nation and we are responsible for ensuring the promotion and protection of their physical, moral, social, intellectual and spiritual well-being,” Legarda said.
