Sanctuario de San Antonio Parish auctions works of noted artists

In these times of economic scarcity, confusion and uncertainties in all levels and stations of society primarily brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, is there still purpose in buying rare homeware, expensive jewelry, precious stones, antiques, collectors’ items of all sorts, art pieces and the likes?

Do people of can-afford status still have the penchant and if ever, how about the spaces to accommodate all these unique and unusual creations?

How about the less in life? Would they still be interested in acquiring these possessions they also might have dreamed of and thought they could have equally in their lifetime but would instead opt for something more practical like food on their tables or roof to shelter them?

Albeit dispossession of all this, the underprivileged would contend themselves with the proceeds these articles could generate for them just like what Sanctuario de San Antonio Parish, the org which spearheads the auction of these collections, has delineated. According to the press release written by Toots Tolentino, “the proceeds of the auction shall assist in the numerous social services and development ministries of SSAP and its sister parishes.”

As what Tolentino has also written: “The Santuario de San Antonio Parish Francisfest joyfully presents SpectaculART 2: An auction of art, jewelry and homeware.”

Tolentino’s other descriptions of the event: “This year, SpectaculART 2 showcases a carefully curated selection of meaningful works created by esteemed artists namely: National Artist for Visual Arts Carlos “Botong” Francisco, Impy Pilapil, Romeo Tabuena, and Anita Magsaysay Ho.

“La Jota,” a 1948 painting by Francisco in watercolor on paper which pays tribute to the name of the folk dance captures the elegance and refinement of this Philippine dance. In this extraordinary work, Francisco portrays not only a dance routine; he also gracefully depicts the characters’ playful spirit.

Francisco’s art work goes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Beatriz Ventoza.

“There are also unique pieces by renowned Filipino visual artists Gus Albor, Ramon Diaz, Jojo Guingona, Noli Principe Manalang, Isabel Campa, Ivy Lim and Marivic Rufino which are pooled together in a celebration of Philippine Art in the last few decades.

“Unique prints by Salvador Dali and John Lennon will also be for sale,” Toots stated.

The auction, added Tolentino, “also gathers numerous up-and-coming artists to give them an opportunity to reach a wider audience and also to showcase their work.  They may just dominate the scene in the years to come.   A bid on their work gives a heartwarming sense of validation and accomplishment. A ray of positivity and inspiration during these troubled times—a win-win situation.

“SpectaculaART kicked off its first edition last year in response to the pandemic and the quarantine restrictions imposed upon us,” noted Toots.

Tolentino further convinced the public: “So let us bid, buy and invest in art, jewelry and unique pieces for your home while helping the Santuario de San Antonio Parish Ministries.  SupportSpectaculART 2.”
