The Department of Transportation (DOTr) joined the celebration of the Philippine Railways Institute (PRI)’s 5th founding anniversary with the theme: ‘High 5 PRI: Railway Ascending thru Innovation and Learning’.
Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista lauded PRI’s hard work and dedication to develop training programs and materials, and further conducting research and development for the upgrade of the railways sector.
“I hope your passion and dedication will remain steadfast as we forge towards the exciting era of railway renaissance, with rail lines expanding from Metro Manila to northern and southern Luzon, even to Mindanao. Our imagination is the only limit to how we want to keep pace with rail technology as countries already adopt futuristic rail systems. The challenge is how PRI should keep pace with these advancements,” Sec. Bautista said.
DOTr Undersecretary and PRI OIC-Executive Director Anneli R. Lontoc also shared the vision of PRI in the future, together with many partner agencies, that will surely boost the railways industry in the country.
“Together we paved the way for a future where railway seamlessly connect communities and shape the country’s destiny. Together we will continue to innovate, adapt, and expand our offerings to meet the evolving needs of the railway industry. Our goal remains to ensure that the Philippine Railway system is not only safe and efficient but also a model of excellence in transportation”, Usec. Lontoc shared.
During the ceremony, PRI also awarded and recognized partner railway agencies and institutions that have been instrumental not only to PRI’s success but also to the railways sector.
