1-M air passengers projected this 2025 Christmas rush

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) expects the number of air passengers flying during the Christmas travel rush to breach the one million mark.

CAAP said in a statement they project at least 960,000 passengers this year, a seven percent increase from the 895,000 passengers counted last year.

To cope with the traditional airport congestion throughout the country, CAAP declared a “heightened alert status” at all airports from Dec 20, 2025 to Jan 4, 2026.

As in previous years, CAAP also put up help desks at airport terminals to assist passengers while augmenting security personnel and designating standby medical teams.

CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario said, “The safety and convenience of the traveling public remain our top priority. We are ensuring that passengers experience safe, orderly, and efficient airport operations throughout the holiday period.”

In December 2024, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) counted 4.62 million passengers using the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

In September 2024, the New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation, took over managing NAIA operations.

In the first nine months of 2025, the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) tallied 46.84 million air passengers passing through airports around the country, a 6.25% increase from last year.
