There are not a few established norms and traditions in our society that are already debunked and still being debunked by several harbingers or torch bearers of their advanced notions, beliefs and causes.
At least, in the field of fashion, there are organizers, visionaries and impresarios who are offering new ideas and altering past actions deemed obsolete and irrelevant by revising common standards in the course of advancing commercial viability if not democratizing artistic possibility of bridal wear fashion.
One of them is Ignacio Caluyo, a fashion show producer representing Exhibition Trade Shows Advocacy Campaigns & Lifestyle Events.
Caluyo organized the recent “Bridal Expo Tagaytay” at the Foramall in Olivarez, Tagaytay City that featured various matrimonial creations by exclusive fashion designers from CALABARZON.
Asked if the event is to usher in the June Bride concept, Igi quickly clarified the usual meaning attached to bridal fashion expos.
“Hindi na uso na pag magdyu-June lang at saka may bridal expo. Kahit na kailan ay puwedeng magpa-fashion show ng (It’s not — anymore that bridal expos are held nearing or during the month of June. Anytime is the right time in mounting shows about) bridal wear,” opined Caluyo.
This belief was also shared by young fashion designer Erick Valena who participated in the Tagaytay showcase with his newest wedding collection worn by mannequins Ruffa Nava and Mark Anthony Zinkdeberg.
“Every month of the year, there are weddings and most of us designers are super busy in designing and making bridal gowns and suits for the groom and his best men including all the members of the entourage.
Valena’s flower girls, namely, Joliena and Angelie Pagsinuhin, were also dressed up and paraded in the catwalk.
The occasion was a venue to canvass and decide the kind of wedding preparations brides and grooms with the kind assistance of their parents and friends. (Boy Villasanta)
