Palawan International Choir Festival, 1st of its kind in the Philippines

There might have been choir exhibitions if not competitions locally but to include international search on choral singing mastery and excellence, this is the first I’ve heard of such concept.

I first heard of it from musical conductor Robert Delgado, a former member of the Philippine Madrigal Singers, aspirant of a Doctor of Philosophy in Music degree at the University of the Philippines College of Music, conductor of various choirs in thr country and organizer and baton of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Choral.

Delgado, President of the National Association of Filipino Choirs, thought of organizing and presenting a comprehensive choir festival in the Philippines.

Robert dubbed it as Palawan International Choir Festival (PICF) to be held, where else, but in Puerto Princesa City, on August 13 to 16, 2025 in various venues of the city.

PICF will feature exhibitions and competitions among various local and international singing groups.

In the contest proper, a Grand Prix will be given.

The other features of the festival are international music conference, choral workshops, masterclasses, fiesta booths and other colorful and dynamic programs. For more information about the 2025 PICF, please visit its website www.nafci.com or email filipinochoirs@gmail.com. (Boy Villasanta)
