PNB Opens Doors for OFW Services in Japan

The Philippine National Bank (PNB) has obtained regulatory approval to host outreach and assistance services for Filipino workers in Japan, allowing key government agencies to engage directly with overseas Filipinos within its branch facilities.

Under the arrangement, the Social Security System (SSS) and the Pag-IBIG Fund will conduct client assistance, information, and orientation sessions at PNB’s Tokyo and Nagoya branches.

The initiative aims to provide Global Filipinos with easier access to information on membership, contributions, benefits, and other services, all within a banking environment already familiar to many overseas workers.

PNB First Senior Vice President for International Banking and Remittance Group Muffet Flores Caculitan said the program reflects the bank’s continuing commitment to overseas Filipinos.

“This engagement reflects PNB’s broader mandate of serving overseas Filipinos through sustainable and well-coordinated service channels,” she said. “It enables stronger collaboration among institutions that play a vital role in protecting the welfare of Global Filipinos.”

PNB Tokyo Managing Director Roderick Enriquez said the initiative brings essential government services closer to Filipino communities in Japan.

“This is an important step in bringing critical Philippine government services closer to our kababayans in Japan,” he said, noting that the setup allows OFWs to conveniently access guidance on financial protection and long-term security.

Under the agreement, PNB will provide rent-free space and basic facilities for SSS and Pag-IBIG personnel to conduct on-site services and outreach activities.

The collaboration is part of broader efforts to strengthen service delivery for overseas Filipinos by integrating financial and government support systems, ensuring more accessible and coordinated assistance for migrant workers abroad.
