Whisky Live takes flight in Manila

The last five years has shown a significant increase in Filipino drinkers’ awareness of and interest in whisky and single-malt spirits. Whisky and cocktail bars have become increasingly popular that Whisky Live, the biggest whisky-tasting and sampling event of the year, arrives in Manila at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La Hotel at The Fort on October 28 and 29.

Held in partnership with Grand Cru Wines and Spirits Inc., Whisky Live Manila will gather whisky distributors and brands from around the world to showcase their rare and hard-to-find whiskies, as well as some mainstream brands.

Participating brands are Jameson, Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie, Mars Whisky, Teeling Whisky, Evian, Bruichladdich, Monkey Shoulder, JFHillebrand, Dewar’s, Tanduay, Glengoyne, Kavalan, The Singleton, The Glenrothes, Don Papa Rum, Ungava, The Glenlivet, Johnnie Walker, The Glendronach Distillery, The Balvenie, Tomintoul, The Benriach, Bevtools, Tequila Corralejo, Jura, Chivas, Akashi, The Macallan, Highland Park, Yamazakura, and The Dalmore.

Whisky personalities, like Whisky Bible author Jim Murray and Dominic Roskrow from The Whisky Magazine, will join local key opinion leaders, like Francis Hasegawa and Lee Watson, during the two-day event.

From London to Tokyo, Paris to New York, and finally to Manila, Whisky Live will bring together producers from the United States, Spain, Australia, Taiwan, Japan, Ireland, and Scotland to offer Filipinos the opportunity to experience and satisfy their palate with a wide variety of whisky brands. This unique event is dedicated to longtime enthusiasts and new whisky aficionados to sample whisky and spirits, from well-known and boutique brands to confidential and rising stars of the whisky industry.

“Whisky Live has built a reputation over the years with its growing number of loyal followers, exhibitors and visitors. This must-see event is the most significant spirits event in the Philippines this year,” Grand Cru owner Johnssen Li said.

Whisky Live Manila is expected to draw over a thousand guests—local and foreign delegates, A-listers, social-media influencers, celebrities, whisky-brand ambassadors, connoisseurs and enthusiasts. Also, top bartenders and mixologists in the country will be on hand to man the tasting booths and pop-up bars.

Following the global franchise format, Whisky Live Manila will be conducting special master class sessions for discerning whisky drinkers and budding single-malt drinkers. These sessions aim to enrich their tasting experience and learn from industry experts.
