Actress Nadine Lustre thanks her fans in this screengrab of her video message.

Lustre named Nickelodeon’s ‘Favorite Pinoy Star’

American television network Nickelodeon announced last week that actress-singer Nadine Lustre was voted as “Favorite Pinoy Star” at the 2017 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards at the University of Southern California’s Galen Center in Los Angeles.

Lustre defeated fellow actresses Janine Gutierrez, Janella Salvador, and Liza Soberano for the accolade after Nickelodeon fans cast votes for their favorites online.

“Winning the Favorite Pinoy Star award is such a huge honor. I want to thank Nickelodeon for its efforts in recognizing Pinoy talent and for giving us a platform to share our work with the rest of the world. I also want to thank all my supporters who voted for me,” 23-year-old Lustre said in a statement.

“This definitely means a lot. I grew up with Nickelodeon, and I’ve seen the orange trophy being given to amazing artists. I am humbled to get one of my own, even though I feel I’m not worthy of this great honor. This will surely motivate me to work harder to continue giving honor to the Philippines,” she added.

“Again, thank you to Nickelodeon for this award. #childhoodgoals achieved!,” said the actress, who is one-half of the popular on- and offscreen love team JaDine, the other being actor-singer James Reid.

For her part, Syahrizan Mansor, vice president of Nickelodeon Asia, congratulated Lustre on her victory. She called the Kids’ Choice Awards as “the only awards show that reflects the power of kids, as many voted for their Favorite Pinoy Star.”

“This award category has enabled us to elevate amazing Pinoy artists like Nadine Lustre on an international platform. Nickelodeon will continue to promote and support talents from the Philippines,” she said. TMM
