RCBC: 55 years of championing financial inclusion, green banking

The Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) has, in more than five decades, provided service excellence to its clients with its wide array of products and services suited to the needs of its diverse clientele.

Through the years, RCBC continues its commitment to offer innovative banking solutions that are relevant and beneficial to various market segments.

As part of its goal of developing and implementing services catered to a wider and burgeoning financial market, RCBC offers the MyWallet card, designed for the fast-paced working lifestyle.

With MyWallet cards, users are given fast and easy access to bills payment, account inquiries and even cashless shopping at considerably lower rates.

RCBC Bankard Services Corp., the credit-card issuing subsidiary of RCBC, provides its cardholders the ultimate spending experience with its all-year Unli 0% installment feature.

Unli 0% allows all users to convert every transaction to zero-percent installment for three months at any given time of the year. With no limitation on the purchase amount or the number of times they can avail of the feature, cardholders are also able to manage their budget more effectively.

Green initiatives 

In its flagship greening project for 2014, the bank has partnered with one of the biggest media institutions in the Philippines, ABS-CBN, for the Bantay Baterya Project under the ABS-CBN Foundation’s Bantay Kalikasan Program.

Through this program, RCBC has donated hundreds of used lead-acid batteries (ULABs) sourced from its ATMs nationwide to Bantay Baterya. Thus, earning this tag: the bank with the first green ATM network in the Philippines. The project won the prestigious Green Leadership Award, given by the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA) during ceremonies held at the Banyan Tree Hotel in Macau.

In support of its resource-saving programs, RCBC elevates its environmental efforts through its Teenvironmentalist campaign. This activity is designed to engage Filipinos, both young and old, to share their personal efforts in caring for the planet and pass the challenge along to their peers by uploading a video of their pledges on YouTube, and sharing it on the official RCBC Facebook page with the hashtag #TeenVironmentalist. Parents and other adults are also welcome to participate with the hashtag #GreenVironmentalist. 

Pioneering paperless technology 

Committed to its environmental advocacy, RCBC has spearheaded the implementation of advanced technology in staple banking services, such as cash and check deposits, cash withdrawal, check encashment, bills payment, fund transfer, MyWallet reloading, and account opening, among many others.

In 2015, the bank launched its Touch Q Lobby Management System, a self-service teller assist kiosk in the branch that not only conveniently pre-stages customers’ banking transactions, but also manages the traffic inside a branch through a smart queuing system.

Another of its green banking efforts is the upgrading of AccessOne Internet Banking system, which offers a new banking lifestyle for clients by providing them with convenient access to their bank accounts anytime and anywhere. With the new and improved RCBC AccessOne user interface, customizing is made easy with shortcuts for frequent transactions on its icon-based dashboard.
