The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) last week assured stricter oversight of the ₱57.87-billion Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) for 2026, vowing that public money for local projects will be spent wisely and transparently.
In a statement, the agency said the record allocation under the current administration will be monitored through a three-tier accountability system designed to ensure that local government units (LGUs) deliver key infrastructure and essential services—especially projects beyond their financial capacity.
At the core of the monitoring framework is the SubayBAYAN portal, a real-time platform where LGUs upload project data for public tracking. This is reinforced by the Project Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PrIME) system, which flags high-risk projects and helps address bottlenecks.
The DILG reported that at least 161 projects were assessed in 2025 under these mechanisms.
Oversight is further strengthened at the ground level through Project Monitoring Committees that check compliance and implementation, alongside third-party monitoring conducted with civil society groups. So far, 933 infrastructure projects worth ₱5.8 billion have been covered under independent review.
The department also highlighted ongoing efforts to boost the capacity of LGUs, aiming for more resilient, efficient, and accountable infrastructure governance nationwide.
