The saga of the Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla love story continues.
After a long silence of the real score between them that the media had been lurking the separation in blind items and even on direct references, Kathryn finally broke the ice of the breakup.
Before she came out with the official statement, though, it was, obviously, referred to her ex-boyfriend for approval.
Daniel on his part had expressed his sadness over his former girlfriend’s thoughts and revelations on their screen partnership.
Then Kathryn’s mom Luzviminda “Min” Bernardo eventually issued her personal side to the breakup.
It was followed up by Daniel’s mother Karla Estrada’s stand on the issue after her denial of the real story.
Interestingly, most of their statements, written and oral, were on the self-preservation stunt carefully crafted–as if everyone is underdog and there’s no oppressor at all–not to offend anyone, most especially the public, and the fans, KathNiels, the market of their reel and real love team for their consumption.
Still, a lot of backstories and subtexts have been cropping up mainly about the major players themselves and their surrounding circumstances.
In her earlier statements, Bernardo just stated the professional sprinkled with a dash of the personal.
This time, though, she included one of the most ticklish issues of the split when she clarified (as entertainment writer Dave Rojo echoed in his social media post) that there was no third party involved and that she and Daniel simply grew apart.
Movie writer Tonee Coraza reacted to Kathryn’s statement: “That is what you call saving face, nakakahiya nga namang umamin na pinalitan ka (it’s embarrasing to admit that she was replaced with another girl).”
Rojo pleaded: “Tigilan na rin sa pagkaladkad sa pangalan ni (Please stop dragging the name of) Andrea Brilllantes.”
Former member of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP) and founder of the Young Critics Circle (YCC) member, Mauro Feria Tumbocon, Jr., better known as Mike Feria, the critic commented: “Hindi nila ma-sustain ang publicity campaign as solo star ang Kathryn. Anong susunod sa kuwento kaya? Ang ganda ng may anggulo ng third party at sumasagot ang Andrea (They can’t sustain Kathryn’s publicity as a solo star. What will be the next in the story? It’s nice to have a third party angle and Andrea responds). BOY VILLASANTA
