One of the ways to be casted in any film, television, theater and multimedia project is through auditions.

Once a talent passes a tryout, he or she lands a role in a project.

Auditions are no simple processes, though.

Therefore, what are the factors involved in effective auditioning to merit a part in an audio-visual work?

These are some of the clarifications that were answered when the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) recently held its FEST Film Lab on Auditioning for Film and TV on July 13 and 14, 2025 at the Seda Hotel in Paranaque City.

One of the participants involved in the workshop was veteran actress Madeleine Nicolas who has been very active in the pursuits of enhancement of her thespic aspirations.

On the first day of the workshop, Madeleine was very excited and vibrant.

She came on time for the sessions with mentor Nancy Bishop, an American casting director, especially on European casting efforts.

Nicolas, from Calauag, even had photo-ops with her fellow Quezonians from Tagkawayan, Atimonan, Candelaria and Lopez.

No.

These staff were not direct participants in the event but affiliated with the FDCP.

Except myself (from Lopez) who was enrolled at the other curriculum on Film Editing, they are cultural workers for the FDCP who made sure the workshops were done smoothly from registration to attendance monitoring to arrangement of chairs to inquiry on anything.

Madeleine had a fun time posing with her kababayans before our respective workshops began.
