State-run Philippine Guarantee Corporation (PHILGUARANTEE) expanded its support for home financing in the first half of the year, with the value of housing loans it guaranteed reaching ₱313.77 billion, up 9.44 percent from the same period last year.
The agency said last week that the increase reflected its broader efforts to make housing credit more accessible, including guaranteed socialized housing loans under the Abot-Kaya Pabahay Fund (AKPF).
The program benefited 412,028 individuals, helping widen access to affordable and socialized housing across the country.
“This growth reflects the combined contribution, including guaranteed socialized housing loans under the Abot-Kaya Pabahay Fund (AKPF),” PHILGUARANTEE said.
The government-owned and controlled corporation currently works with 206 partner lending institutions (PLIs), 58 of which have helped expand access to sustainable housing finance.
By providing guarantees to financial institutions, PHILGUARANTEE helps reduce lending risks and enables more borrowers to gain access to financing, particularly in priority sectors such as housing.
The corporation operates under the Department of Finance and provides credit guarantees to financial institutions to facilitate lending to key sectors of the Philippine economy.
The latest figures underscore the government’s continuing push to expand housing finance, particularly for Filipino families seeking more affordable and sustainable options for homeownership.
