New integrated terminals to open next year

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) hopes to operationalize three additional road terminal hubs within Luzon by 2027, according to Transportation Undersecretary Mark Steven Pastor.

Completion of integrated terminals in Taguig, Ilocos Norte and El Nido (Palawan) which has a combined cost of P6.43 billion, is on track by 2027, boosting land travel in Luzon and expand bus routes for commuters, said Pastor.

The P5.2-billion Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange (TCITX) – largest of the three – is rising on a 5.57-hectare property in Western Bicutan which is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2027.

The TCITX is financed through a public-private partnership with Ayala Land Inc. It is designed to house multiple modes of transport, from provincial buses to in-city jeepneys.

The TCITX will also connect to the Metro Manila Subway System and the North-South Commuter Railway, with two separate railway stations to be built in the area.

Pastor said the third and final leg of the Ilocos Norte Transport Hub and Parking Building is expected to be completed also by fourth quarter of 2027.

The terminal hub – costing P1.08 billion – spans 2.35 hectares. The first phase was completed in 2024 while the second segment within this year.

The terminal is designed as a multimodal hub, offering different modes of transport. It will be a transfer point for those traveling in and out of Ilocos Norte.

Pastor added the El Nido Transport Terminal will be completed also next year, costing P150 million. Construction was split in two phases – the first expected to be finished this year.
