Charlie Dizon, Romnick Sarmenta win at 47th Gawad Urian

It’s win for both first timers at the Gawad Urian of the prestigious Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP).

Young star Charlie Dizon won Best Actress for “Third World Romance,” a Black Sheep Productions’ film project and veteran actor Romnick Sarmenta bagged the Best Actor plum for “About Us but Not About Us,” an IdeaFirst Company’s production at the 47th Gawa Urian held Saturday night at the Verdure of the De La Salle University in Tafat Avenue, Manila.

Award-winning multimedia thespian Ronnie Lazaro romped away with the Best Supporting Actor award for “The Gospel of the Beast,” an E&W Films, Southern Lantern Studios and Tinker Bulb Productions’ co-venture while international Filipino star Dolly de Leon clinched the Best Supporting Actress for “Ang Duyan ng Magiting,” a Sine Metu art work.

“Iti Mapukpukaw (The Missing),” a co-production of Cinemalaya Foundation, Project 8 Projects and GMA Public Affairs got the Best Picture nod from the critics while Dwayne Ruedas Baltazar was awarded the Best Director award for “Third World Romance.”

Papa; Best Documentary, “Baon sa Biyahe” by James Magnaye; Best Cinematography, Carlo Canlas Mendoza, “GomBurZa”; Best Screenplay, Jun Robles Lana, “About Us But Not About Us” and Natatanging Gawad Urian, Hilda Koronel.
