Filmmaker Jose Javier Reyes was appointed Monday, April 8, 2024 by the Office of the President as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
Reyes, better known as Joey Reyes in the film circle, replaced actor Tirso Cruz III whp resigned last month due to personal reasons,.
Initially, there was no immediate replacement on Tirso’s part.
It was filmmaker Rica Arevalo who took the reign of the office in her capacity as Officer-in-Charge (OIC).
Joey was technical assistant of Cruz during the tenure of the latter..
The FDCP is the government policymaking agency which implements policies in the economic, cultural and educational growth and development of Philippine cinema.
Reyes is a popular director of films lke “Batang PX,” “Live Show,” “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo,” among others.
In his Facebook wall, Joey posted his photo while holding the certificate of appointment.
