After almost a week in the vet hospital, Ice Seguerra’s pet pug Porky fought her last battle with enlarged heart, heavy phlegm in lungs and difficulty in breathing.
Ice from the start of his dear dog confinement was already devastated much more when she bid him adieu.
Seguerra was already advised by the vet doc that the lifespan of dogs is shorter than humans but he still showed hope his pet would be saved. “As a dog’s human, we all know that they have a shorter life span compared to us. But knowing and accepting are two different things,” posted Ice in his Instagram.
Ice met and took home Porky thirteen years at the time he wasn’t yet engaged and married to Liza Diño. Seguerra said that the pug was really meant for him the first time he saw her. “She was kissing me incessantly,” Ice recalled.
“Porky’s been there sa napakaraming (in the many) moments at milestones sa buhay ko (of my life). Ilang beses din kaming nag inuman, madali nga lang siya malasing at saka malakas pumulutan. Never kong naramdaman na mag-isa ako noon kasi alam kong kasama ko siya. Alam niya pag masaya ako, lalo na kapag malungkot ako (We’ve drank a lot. And she would get drank easily. She was also consuming appetizers so much. I never felt I was alone because I knew she was always there for me. She knew when I was happy and especially when I was sad),” the singer-actor recounted.
“Salamat sa pagmamahal mong walang kaparis (Thank you for your unequalled love). My heart is in so much pain but alam kong ayaw mong malungkot ako (I know you didn’t want me lonely). So I will try my best to be okay. But it’s so hard to live in a world without your kisses, your presence, your love. You were not just a pet, you were my daughter. Thank you for loving me selflessly. I love you forever, my baby girl, my Baboy (Pig), my one and only Porky.
The 13 years I’ve spent with you were the best years of my life. Mahal na mahal na mahal kita, Porky ko, at sobrang mamimiss kita (I love you so much, my Porky and I’d miss you so much,” gushed Ice sadly.
Meanwhile, it was only in 2012 that Liza was united with Porky but the camaraderie and togetherness were memorable.
“Thank you for giving us more time to show you how much we love you. We knew you’re already weak pero nagpakitang gilas ka pa rin (but you still showed strength) to assure us that you’re gonna be ok.
“Thank you for protecting your daddy Ice during those years that I was not there yet.
“Thank you for that beautiful smile you gave me last night. This is the memory I will keep with me forever,” said Liza.
