For two big stars of different generations, the encounter between Maricel Soriano and Vilma Santos was news.
It was a rare occasion of star power sharing.
Diamond Star Maricel and Star for All Seasons Vilma were an intriguing pair when Soriano made a magnanimous gesture of standing, meeting, talking and kissing Santos in public.
Remember the time when Marya got involved with Vi’s former husband Edu Manzano? They got married and no matter how short-lived their union was, it’s still a controversial act between an older man and a bachelorette.
Maricel and Edu got away with murder at the time the former was at the peak of her career while Doods was a sought after actor they could be cursed by their fans. But no, the two still pursued what they romantically wanted and still accepted by their respective followers especially the actress. The situation was also unique considering the former’s penchant for mestizos—Ronnie Ricketts, another tisoy was Marya’s ex–and mature men.
Of course, Vilma Santos-Recto was understanding of her colleagues’ peculiarities and was a free woman at the time.
Maricel and Vilma are two great actresses and meeting each other again after ages was an excitement.
Soriano was lucky and proud she shared the limelight with an icon and an idol at the awarding of the Lifetime Achievement Award Parangal ng Sining of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
Marya applauded as Vi was recognized.
