NCSC visits SCs in 2 cities, 1 municipality in Laguna province

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) paid a visit to senior citezen leaders Biñan, San Pedro and Los Baños on Friday.

Highlighting the day-long talking tour/visit was an orientation and presentation of NCSC programs with LGU officials, leaders of senior citizens group in Los Baños.

In his inspirational message, NCSC Chairman Franklin Quijano shared the brief history of NCSC including the laws and mandate that created the agency.

Quijano praised the leadership of Los Baños for providing a solid health and welfare program for its elderly populace. 

He also shared NCSC’s top priority programs including social pension, centenarian and PhilHealth’s Konsulta program that offers free annual medical, physical, dental and mental check up.

Los Baños Mayor Anthony Genuino also thanked the NCSC for reaching out to his senior constituents and sharing its plans and programs for older persons in the entire country.

The Mayor’s message was read by municipal administrator Dr. Roberto Rañola, who also delivered the welcome remarks. 

Also present were Senior Citizen Committee Chairman Coun. Jonsi Siytiap, OSCA head Remia Adedoja, BSCA pres. Magdalena Volante and Los Baños Federation of Senior Citizens vice-pres. Andres Alforge, among others.

Earlier in Biñan City, Chairman Quijano met briefly with Mayor Walfredo “Arman” Dimaguila and 1st Coun. Dada Reyes, CSWD head Adora Pascual and OSCA pres. Agapito Fernandez at CSWD office in Biñan City Hall.

Pascual shared the social pension payout process, its realities, safety net process and security measures enjoyed by some 18,000 card-bearing senior citizen members for their socpen payout and other benefits.

So hectic was the NCSC Team schedule that they took lunch over another meeting with City Association of Senior Citizens of San Pedro Inc. (CASCASPI) officers led by Ex-San Pedro Rep. Roy Almorro. who is the group’s legal counsel. 

Also present at the luncheon meeting were Diwa Tayao, CASCASPI Head and ABC chairwoman, Allison Alfeche and Rosaida Borromeo Alfeche, avid NGO supporters of NCSC and coordinators of the event.
