Tanduay Distillers eyes global market expansion this year

Philippine liquor company Tanduay Distillers, Inc. is set to expand its global presence in 2025 following significant achievements in 2024. 

After successfully entering the Czech Republic and South Korea last year, the company now plans to introduce its products to France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, the Nordic Region, and Latin America.

Tanduay’s international reach already spans various markets, including Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Malta, New Zealand, China, Peru, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan, the Netherlands, the UAE, the US, and the UK.

Lucio Tan III, president of the Lucio Tan Group and Tanduay Distillers, Inc., highlighted the company’s commitment to blending tradition with innovation. 

He stated that the company strives to maintain a balance between heritage and progress, enabling it to connect with people both in the Philippines and globally.

Established in 1854 as a small distillery in Hagonoy, Bulacan, Tanduay has grown into a globally recognized brand, celebrated for its dedication to craftsmanship. Over the years, it has gained international recognition for its high-quality products.

In 2024, Tanduay earned prestigious awards, including gold accolades for its Tanduay Double Rum from the Beverage Testing Institute and the SIP (Spirits International Prestige) Awards. 

Tanduay Asian Rum Gold received recognition in the Best Buy Category at the Beverage Testing Institute and an Innovation Award at the SIP Awards. 

Similarly, Tanduay Asian Rum Silver was honored with gold awards at the San Diego Spirits Festival. Especia Spiced Rum stood out with a gold award and was named “Best in Category for Spiced Rum” at the New Orleans Spirits Competition. 

Newer products, such as Tanduay Reserve Rum 10 Years and Tanduay Reserve Rum Overproof, also gained immediate acclaim, with the former winning a Master Medal and Taste Master Award and the latter receiving gold at the Asian Spirits Masters by The Spirits Business.

In addition to its product success, Tanduay celebrated its heritage through the annual rum festival in Bacolod, now in its fourth year. The event, held in partnership with the local government, highlighted the region’s sugarcane industry through Culinaria, Mixology, and Flairtending competitions.
